Best Kids Camping Accessories of 2021

Going camping with children seems like it would be a nightmare. They need so much stuff, right? I know, I thought so, too. But actually, they don’t need much more stuff than you or I would. I was skeptical at first but found that camping with kids is actually truly wonderful, whether you choose to rent a cabin, take an RV, or set up a tent on the ground. Kids are into it, and watching them discover the great outdoors is a beautiful thing.

Core 11P Cabin Tent with Screen Room

You might be saying to yourself: “There’s only four of us, why do we need such a big tent?” A: you want all of your stuff in the cabin, not exposed to the elements, and B: because unless everyone gets real cool about sleeping on top of each other, you need at least an 8- to 10-person tent. This model by Core also has a cool screened-in porch for relaxing or to stash your doggo.

Woodlands Screen House

While this outbuilding is not mandatory, if you’re not a fan of being eaten alive by mosquitoes and bees whilst you dine, you’re going to want it. Plus, it’s really nice to have in your backyard as well. It sets up in five minutes and provides shelter and protection while being totally breathable and breezy.

Coleman River Gorge All-Terrain Queen Air Mattress

There are many campers who still prefer to sleep on a mat on the ground, I however am not one of them. This air mattress is genuinely comfortable, and inflates easily thanks to the built-in pump that connects to a car A/C or the electric plug-in at the camp. You don’t even need to bring sheets if you have a sleeping bag.

WELLAX UltraThick FlexFoam Sleeping Pad

This is … not my preferred sleeping method, and yet, I’ve managed to fall asleep on this more than once. It’s far better than the ground, but not as good as the beach, and certainly not as good as the air mattress. I have found that my kids like having this because it doubles as a gymnastics mat.

Coleman Pack-Away Camping Cot

This will take you back to the first time you donated blood and nearly passed out. It’s actually decently comfortable and it’s a cinch to set up. The footprint of the cot is miniscule, so it doesn’t take up much space in the boot of your car or in the tent itself.

Morrison Outdoors Little Mo 40° Baby Sleeping Bag

Having a wearable sleeping bag for your very littlest littles means they are toasty even when it is quite cold. Morrison Outdoors has designed this for babies 6 to 24 months old, and the best part is that it zips from the bottom for easy diaper changes or even adding extra socks to your babe.

Coleman Kids 30 Degree Sleeping Bag

This is a genius sleeping bag. The shape keeps your child’s body heat close to them, while still allowing air flow and comfort. It goes up around the head, which means that even their head and ears will be warm and dry. Children can learn to wrap it up themselves with minimal effort, though getting them to do it is another matter.
