The adventure checklist is a must-have for anyone who plans to backpack through dangerous, foreign terrain. A good adventure plan includes maps, guides, shelter, food, water, and equipment, but many overlook planning for unexpected events. Packing food, water, and shelter at the wrong time can lead to failure. This checklist lists the things you need to carry on your trip.
If you plan to ride a mountain bike, then you’ll need two spare tubes. Do you have a mountain bike already? If not, there are many manufacturers’ bike shops. It’s pretty easy to rent a bike if you are biking in unfamiliar territory. A snowboard trailer is a good idea if you are going on a trip to an area that is constantly snowing.
The first thing you need to pack is shoes. To get up the slippery slopes, boots are essential. To make sure your feet don’t slip, shoes with rubber soles are recommended. Snowboarders will need foot-soles too. But even if you haven’t been on a ski lift, bring some comfortable socks for your backcountry experience.
Sleeping bags are the most essential piece of camping gear. You can get them at a ski resort or in many stores that sell camping gear. There are a variety of sizes and shapes to choose from, so your choices should be logical. A warm, dry, and comfortable bag will help you enjoy your trip.
A whistle is an important piece of equipment to have. You can’t expect to see a sunrise or sunset without a whistle. You can buy whistles for dogs as well as people. Your whistle is always handy when the whistle goes on the blink.
If you drink lots of water and want to purify it, a water purification tablet is a necessity. Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. You will lose a lot of weight during your backpacking adventure. You won’t want to dehydrate quickly. Fleece shirts are better than cotton shirts. Cotton is not breathable, so you sweat a lot. When your clothing is thicker, it helps keep you cool.
A first aid kit will be needed when you fall or are hit by an accident. And it can be more useful than you think. Your first aid kit should include antibiotics, antacids, bandages, pain relievers, and aspirin. Make sure you have all the essential items before you go.
In addition to the water purification tablets mentioned above, you’ll need a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, camping stove, lantern, and a tent repair kit. Bring all of these items. If you’re hiking in a mountainous area, consider bringing a lightweight guidebook, map, compass, flashlight, and a rock-climbing harness, if you want to get help when necessary.
